Waitrose Deals
4 Current Deals
Often includes potatoes, carrots, apples & more
If you go in-store or online at Waitrose, you can get selected vegetables and fruit branded 'wonky', which may be slightly irregular in shape or appearance, but totally fine to eat.
What's available will depend on the season and stock in your local store. Here's what we found at one Waitrose store:
Product | 'Wonky' price | 'Standard' price | Cheapest alternative |
|---|---|---|---|
Waitrose Wonky Carrots, 1.5kg | 90p (60p per kg) | 70p (70p per kg) | 53p per kg at Sainsbury's & Morrisons |
Waitrose Wonky Potatoes, 3kg | £1.70 (56.7p per kg) | £1.80 (72p per kg) | 67.5p per kg at Asda & Sainsbury's |
Waitrose Wonky Apples, six-pack | £1.70 (28p each) | £1.80 (30p each) | 99p (17p each) at Sainsbury's |
The cheapest alternative price is based on online supermarkets, so doesn't include Aldi and Lidl. Prices may differ based on your location.
Although Waitrose is rarely the most MoneySaving supermarket, if you're shopping there anyway, its wonky fruit and vegetables are a great option for healthy eating.
In stores and online at Waitrose

Every day with its loyalty card when you bring your own cup
If you sign up for a myWaitrose loyalty card - you can get a free regular-sized tea or coffee in-store every day from the self-serve machine, when you use your own reusable cup in selected stores. You can choose from americano, cappuccino, latte or tea.
If you haven't got one already, you'll receive your physical myWaitrose loyalty card within five weeks of signing up via the link above. Alternatively, you can download a myWaitrose card via the app (free in the App Store or Google Play).
Simply swipe your card at the till – you can then go and get your free drink using your reusable cup. You need to scan your loyalty card in order to use the machine and redeem your drink.

Why do I have to provide my own cup? Waitrose used to hand out disposable coffee cups for this freebie, but in 2018 it stopped this for environmental reasons (see our Waitrose ditches disposable cups MSE News story). For where else you can save with a reusable cup, see our own-cup discounts blog.

Take the Downshift Challenge. The phrasing and language used in shops hypnotises us into thinking the most costly is best. While the packaging looks more opulent, look beneath it and sometimes you won't be able to tell the difference (often it's even made in the same factory). Take our Downshift Challenge.
-
Time trips right to bag huge yellow sticker discounts. If you spot a yellow sticker discount - fantastic. Grab it and use it quickly as it's a saving on perfectly good nosh. See when Waitrose normally reduces its produce in our Cheap Supermarket Shopping guide.

Check out similar retailers, eg, Ocado, Sainsbury's and the other major supermarkets. If you're not committed to buying from Waitrose, check out our deals from Ocado, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda, Aldi, Morrisons and Lidl where they may have a better offer.

Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops hagglers have most success. Supermarkets did feature, so it's worth a go. Find out more in our Haggle on the High Street guide.

-
Daffodils – £1
-
Mixed Chrysanthemums – £3.50
-
Isabella Bouquet – £6 (including roses and chrysanthemums)
Last bud not least, you can find similar bargains at independent stores across the country, though unfortunately, we can't compare prices for them all. Before buying at supermarkets, check local florists' prices to ensure you're getting the best deal.
How to jazz up a cheap bunch
With a bit of artistic flair, you can make a cheap-ish bouquet look expensive for next to nowt. Wrap it in fancy paper – no need to spend more than £1 on that. Maybe attach a handmade card, then listen as your mum reminisces about gifts you made her as a child (awww).
We had a go at sprucing up a £4 supermarket bunch for just £3.50 extra...

A dozen red roses from £3.99
Our round-up of prices at major supermarkets
Over-commercialised spending is one of our bugbears – you should never feel the pressure to buy stuff just because the calendar tells you it's Valentine's Day. If you are planning to mark it with red roses though, make sure you're not paying over the odds. Bunches of 12 start from £3.99 at supermarkets, but in the past, stores have engaged in the 'war of the roses' and cut prices even further on the day itself.
SUPERMARKET | PRICE FOR 12 RED ROSES 🌹 |
|---|---|
Aldi | £3.99 |
Morrisons | £4 if you've a free More Card*, £5 without |
Asda | £4.27 |
Lidl | £4.49 |
Tesco | £5 |
Sainsbury's | £6 |
Co-op | £8 |
M&S | £15 |
Waitrose | £15 |
Expect short-stemmed standard roses – we've not included any premium ranges. The cost of roses can shoot up if they are long-stemmed, or ethically/locally sourced. If you want more bang for your buck, consider alternatives such as tulips.
How to jazz up a £4/£5 bunch
With a bit of creative flair, you can make a £4/£5 bunch of supermarket roses look a lot more expensive for next to nothing. Wrap them in some attractive paper (no need to spend more than £1), attach a self-penned poem (get some inspiration from Google or ChatGPT) and you're sure to be in your loved one's good books.
Martin's Money Mantras
Use them
If you answer 'NO' to any of the following questions, don't buy.
Are you
Will I use it?
Is it worth it?
Are you
Do I need it?
Can I afford it?

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
