If you have a number of small pension pots you've built up over years of changing jobs, they may be automatically combined in future under new Government plans. This could make it easier to stay on top of your pension savings and reduce costs – but it's still very early days, and we don't yet know exactly how the scheme will work in practice.

Thousands of people making requests to check and top up State Pensions were wrongly denied ahead of a crucial deadline to do so on Saturday 5 April, HMRC has confirmed to MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE). But if you were hit by the error, you should be contacted directly and given another chance to fill any gaps in your National Insurance (NI) record.

Women who say they weren't given fair notice about a rise in State Pension age will NOT receive compensation, Work and Pensions Secretary Liz Kendall has confirmed today (17 December). The decision, which will leave many disappointed, goes against recommendations from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) to make payouts.

The full State Pension is set to rise by £362.65 (4.1%) a year for most pensioners on 6 April 2025, under what's known as the 'triple lock' guarantee. Those on the full new state pension will see a rise of £474.85. Meanwhile certain benefits, including Universal Credit, are expected to increase by 1.7%.
