Tens of thousands of flights are being cancelled by airlines this summer, and with Heathrow placing a cap on the number of passengers that can depart from the airport, it's likely that more cancellations will be announced. So if you're due to fly over the next few months, it's vital you know your cancellation rights.

Airlines have been warned they must do everything they can to avoid further disruption or harm to passengers over the summer – or face enforcement action that includes possible court proceedings.

Flybe has begun flying again under new ownership. The regional airline relaunched this month after collapsing in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. It will now operate the majority of its flights from Birmingham and Belfast, as well as offering selected routes from London Heathrow.

A MoneySaver has been awarded about £300 after successfully arguing in the small claims court he should have been given a cash refund instead of vouchers for British Airways flights cancelled due to Covid-19. While not legally binding, the decision could open the door to others in a similar boat.

Most Easyjet passengers will have to pay more to take larger hand luggage on to a flight under a shake-up of the budget airline's bag policy.

Card provider American Express is making a number of changes to its two British Airways reward credit cards from 1 September. The shake-up will see annual fees hiked on one of the cards, while the spending threshold to earn a 'free' companion flight is falling on the other card - although users will only be able to redeem this on economy class tickets going forward. Seven destinations, including Canada and Switzerland, will be added to the 'green' traffic light list from next week, the UK government has announced. The system is used to govern the action holidaymakers must take when they return to the UK from overseas.
