Game Pass prices go up, your price goes down

In October 2025, Microsoft made the biggest pricing shake-up to its popular Game Pass subscription since the service launched. Xbox Game Pass is now split into several tiers, with the highest 'Ultimate' tier going up in price to £23/month (up from £15/month).

But look in the right places (mainly Loaded.com), and you can not only beat the price hike but still beat the original Game Pass Ultimate price.

Here are the best prices we found for one, three, and six-month subscriptions to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

These prices are subject to fluctuation, and are relevant as of 12 November, 2025.

1-month Game Pass Ultimate (44% off)

Argos*: £12.99
Loaded.com*: £12.99

3-month Game Pass Ultimate (54% off)

Loaded.com: £31.99

6-month Game Pass Ultimate (55% off)

Loaded.com: £61.99

12-month Game Pass Ultimate (57% off)

Loaded.com: £118.99

MSE Rob says:

"Loaded.com has fairly consistently been offering the best Game Pass prices, so even as the prices (inevitably) go up, the prices you find there are likely to be the cheapest.

On the one hand, tying yourself in for more than three months might not be worth it, because the discounts tail off after that point, so even if you take just three days off gaming before renewing your three-month subscription (remember to turn off recurring billing!), it gives you better savings than the six-month pass.

On the other hand, it's likely that these heavily discounted prices will increase sooner rather than later, as the current batch of keys are from the 'good old days' of the previous Game Pass pricing. So if you're a committed Game Pass user, then it might be worth either tying yourself in for longer or stacking these keys at this price while stocks last.

Sales dates, price trackers, and where to rent games

The Xbox Series S is one of the most affordable entry points into current-gen gaming, and game prices tend to be a little cheaper than those on Nintendo and PlayStation platforms. There are plenty of ways to find Xbox Series (and Xbox One) games at a low price, and MSE Rob's cheap Xbox games guide shows you how, including:

Best Xbox Cyber Monday deals - up to 10% off

Barely any discounts. Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

We've made it to Cyber Monday with barely a good Xbox Series discount in sight. Manage your expectations, because so far it almost looks like retailers have forgotten the console exists when prepping their Black Friday sales (though we have found a decent Xbox Series X deal for a refurbished version).

Here are the best Xbox deals we've found throughout Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

XBOX SERIES S
The most affordable Xbox console. All-digital (no disc drive), compact, and capable of playing all the same games as the Series X – albeit at lower resolutions and graphics settings.

Xbox Series S (512GB)* – £269.99 (was £299.99) at Argos
Potentially £254 using the following steps:

  1. Buy an Argos eGift Card worth £265 for £254 via Lebara Rewards (4% off)

  2. Sign up to the Argos newsletter for a £5 off £40 spend voucher.

  3. At the Argos checkout, use the £5 voucher and £265 eGift card to pay for the console.

XBOX SERIES X
Microsoft’s most powerful console. Includes a disc drive (unless it's the Digital Edition), supports 4K gaming, and has significantly more graphical horsepower than the Series S.

Xbox Series X (1TB - Refurbished - Very Good Condition) – £384.99 (was £459.99) at Music Magpie via Ebay.

Xbox Series X (1TB)* – £469.99 (was £499.99). Potentially £446 using the Lebara trick above.

Xbox Series X (1TB) Digital Console* – £419.99 (was £449.99). Potentially £398 using the Lebara trick above.

XBOX ACCESSORIES & HARDWARE DEALS

Xbox Wireless Controller – Carbon Black* – £39.99 (was £59.99) at Amazon

Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Wireless Controller – £88 (was £109.99) at Currys

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

MSE Rob says:

It's hard to point out a 'Best Deal' when most only offered 10% off, especially when you can get the vastly more popular and powerful Playstation 5 at almost the same price as the 'budget' Xbox Series S (we've even seen Black Friday discounts for the new and popular Nintendo Switch 2 of up to 12%, as well as some pretty strong bundle deals).

The best deal is a refurbished Xbox Series X (customers say Music Magpie's refurbs usually come in excellent condition, and with a 12-month warranty), but it's still higher-priced that a brand new Xbox Series X was last Black Friday. It feels like the writing's on the wall for Microsoft's console...

Cheapest Xbox consoles & games for Black Friday

Series S 512GB £199, Series X 1TB £424

It’s a mixed bag of Xbox deals this year, with solid discounts on the Xbox Series S but some not-so-strong discounts on the Series X console.

We’re also seeing little in the way of bundle deals, although there are some strong price drops on games.

Here’s what we spotted on 29 November 2024:

Xbox model

Normal price

 Cheapest we’ve spotted

Xbox Series S (512GB)

£299.99

£199 at EE*. This is the cheapest price it’s been in 2024, but the same discount as last Black Friday. But we did see it for £189 last year.

£199.99 at Amazon*, Argos and Smyths.

Xbox Series X (1TB)

£499.99

£423.97 at Amazon*. However, we saw it as low as £349.99 last year. DEAL EXPIRED

Here are a few offers we’ve spotted on Xbox games:

  • FC25 (normally £69.99) – £34.99 at Xbox. We did see it slightly cheaper at £33.94 earlier in the year, but this is a solid discount nonetheless.

  • Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (normally £69.99) –

    £19.99 at

    Currys*

. This is the lowest price we’ve seen all year. We couldn’t spot any discounts on the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

     DEAL EXPIRED

  • Elden Ring (normally £69.99)

    £27.95 at

    Amazon*

. It’s been as low as £22.95 at Amazon this year, however.

     DEAL EXPIRED

  • Hogwarts Legacy (normally £69.99) – £14.99 at Very. This is the cheapest price we’ve seen it this year.

  • Cyberpunk 2077 (normally £69.99) – £22.49 at Xbox. This is as cheap as we’ve seen it this year.

Important: Don’t get taken in by the hype around Black Friday and sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

MSE Matt says:

There are four main differences between the cheaper Xbox Series S and more expensive Xbox Series X consoles: display, storage (although both consoles are available in 1TB versions), disk tray, and size.

Although the Xbox Series X is bigger and has better graphics, the Xbox Series S might be more for you if you've an older TV and limited space, as it's 60% smaller in size. Got Xbox games on disk that you want to play? Go with the Xbox X, as the S console doesn’t have a disk tray.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
