Via the Discounts For Teachers app. Works at Pizza Express, Burger King etc

If you currently or have previously worked in teaching, and have the Discounts for Teachers app (sign up is free), you can redeem a free 100-days Tastecard membership (normally about £25) and a £10 Caffè Nero digital gift card until Saturday 9 August. To get the offer, you'll also need to be new to Tastecard.

Tastecard gives access to 2for1 deals or 25% off your bill at more than 3,000 restaurants across the UK, including Pizza Express, Burger King, and Caffè Nero – see the full list of restaurants.

Important: You’ll be asked to enter payment details when you sign up as you'll be automatically enrolled into a paid-for membership at the discounted price of £29.99 a year (normally £79.99) after the 100 days, unless you cancel. See 'More info' below for extra details on how to cancel.

How to get it... Sign up or log into the Discounts for Teachers app (it uses ID verification to ensure job status). Once logged in, visit this Tastecard page within the app, and select 'Get Deal'. Discounts for Teachers says you'll be eligible for the £10 Caffè Nero gift card as long as you're new to Tastecard and don't cancel the 100-day trial within the first 21 days.

If you sign up via this special Tastecard link before 11.59pm on Monday 3 March, you can get a free 100-day membership (normally £7.99 a month or £79.99 for a year). You'll need to be new to Tastecard, or not have an active membership. Once you've registered, download and sign into the Tastecard app (for Apple or Android) – this is a digital app membership only, no physical card.

Important. You’ll be asked to enter payment details when you sign up as after your 100-day free trial, you'll be automatically enrolled into a paid membership at £29.99 for a year's membership (a £50 discount on the usual £79.99 yearly price), unless you cancel.

You can cancel anytime, but when you do, you'll lose access to Tastecard immediately, so if you decide not to keep it, make a note and diarise to cancel a few days before your 100-days are up – see full cancellation info below.

What is Tastecard?

It gives access to 2for1 meals or 25% off the total bill (including drinks) at thousands of restaurants across the UK, including Pizza Express, Burger King, Frankie & Benny's, Beefeater and Zizzi – see the full list of restaurants.

You can also get 25% off barista-made drinks at Caffè Nero and 50% off takeaway pizza (including Domino's, Papa Johns and Pizza Hut).

It's important to check restrictions, as some restaurants won't allow you to use a Tastecard at specific times or on certain days of the week (such as Friday or Saturday), or on occasions such as Valentine's Day.

How to cancel if you don't want to keep it

You can cancel via the app at any time during your membership and you won't be charged for a year as long as you cancel before 11.59pm the day before your renewal date (you can find this in your Tastecard account) – though to be safe, it's best to do it a bit before this.

As mentioned above, as soon as you cancel you'll no longer have access to Tastecard's offers. So, to get the most from your membership, cancel a few days before renewal. It's worth setting a reminder in your calendar to do this, and Tastecard told us it will send you a reminder email 30 days prior to payment being taken for your next year's membership.

To cancel your subscription, tap the 'More' tab found on the bottom right corner of the Tastecard app, then tap ‘Manage subscription’. You should see a green button that reads ‘Manage membership’ – tap ‘Cancel membership’. Confirmation of your cancellation will be sent via email and shown on screen.
