Eg, 'Treat Thursday' deals, limited offers, free delivery etc

If you regularly shop in Superdrug* either in stores or online, it's worth picking up a free Superdrug Health & Beautycard* as not only can you collect one point per £1 spent for money off future purchases, you can get exclusive deals, too.

Every week it has a special 'Treat Thursday' event, with various deals and offers. Examples of previous discounts we’ve seen include a free bottle of water, free delivery, triple points offers and 10% off all own-brand products.

If you're collecting points, every 100 points is £1 off a future purchase but unlike Boots, you can part-pay with points and then pay the rest with cash, which means you can use your discounts as soon as you've got 100 points.

Superdrug 'up to 55% off' fragrance, beauty & more

Including Jimmy Choo & Calvin Klein perfumes. Many items cheaper elsewhere

Update 7.53am, Friday 28 November: Superdrug has added an extra 5% off code: BLACKFRIDAY5 which can be used on CeraVe, La Roche-Posay and Vichy until 11.59pm on Tuesday 2 December.

As we predicted, Superdrug is spreading Black Friday deals across a few weeks until Tuesday 2 December, though some deals may end sooner. It's flagged the discount as 'up to 55% off', which is lower than last year's 'up to 70% off'.

There are currently over 500 items in the sale, though we reckon Superdrug will likely add more as the month goes on. Unfortunately, all the items we found were cheaper elsewhere, showing how important it is to compare prices before buying.

Here are some duds we spotted on Wednesday 12 November:

What does ‘up to 55% off' mean?

  • Minimum discount we spotted: 20%

  • Maximum discount we spotted: 77%

  • Typical discount based on 10 random items: 39%

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you’re getting the best deal – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Superdrug 'up to 70% off' fragrance, beauty & more

Including CeraVe, Oral-B and Shark. We're not impressed

As we predicted, Superdrug is spreading Black Friday deals across the whole of November, lasting until Tuesday 3 December.

Anyone can access these deals (last year it was only for Health & Beautycard holders). This year though, Superdrug has scrapped its Black Friday Price Guarantee, which meant that if you saw something you wanted, you didn't need to worry that it would be further-reduced later in November.

Some deals we found at 7.39am on Friday 29 November include:

What does ‘up to 70% off' mean?

Minimum discount we spotted: 5%
Maximum discount we spotted: 92%
Typical discount based on 10 random items: 37%

What is the discount based on: The Advertising Standards Agency has previously stated that at least 10% of items should be available at the 'up to' price.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you’re getting the best deal – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
