With its loyalty card when you bring your own cup

If you sign up for a myWaitrose loyalty card, you can get a free regular-sized tea or coffee in-store every day from the self-serve machine, when you use your own reusable cup in selected stores. You can choose from Americano, cappuccino, latte or tea.

Download a free a myWaitrose card (iOS/Google Play), or you can also request a physical card, which will take up to two weeks to arrive via the post.

Simply swipe your card at the machine – you can then get your free drink using your reusable cup.

Why do I have to provide my own cup? Waitrose used to hand out disposable coffee cups for this freebie, but in 2018 it stopped this for environmental reasons.

When you sign up to the Gail’s app and make a purchase

If you download and sign up to the Gail’s app (iOS/Android), you can get a free coffee (or loaf) with any purchase.

After signing up, new members receive a ‘welcome gift’ in the rewards section of the app, entitling them to a free barista-made drink or a loaf with any purchase.

When we checked, the cheapest item on the menu was either a bottle of water or a half loaf of bread, both of which cost £2.50. Considering barista-made drinks can cost up to £5, it’s a decent saving.

The sign-up reward expires 60 days from the date it's issued. There are 150+ Gail’s locations in the UK (find your nearest).

When you sign up to its app

If you download and sign up to the Wenzel’s app, you can get a free coffee – you don’t need to buy anything, this is a total freebie.

After signing up, new members receive one loyalty stamp, entitling them to a free coffee (or a free doughnut if you prefer).

The sign up reward expires 30 days from the date it's issued. Wenzel’s has 100+ locations (mostly in northwest London, Hertfordshire, Essex, and Buckinghamshire – find your nearest).

For new app users. Normally up to £5

Sign up for the free Coffee#1 app (Apple/Android) for the first time to get a voucher to redeem a totally free drink.

You’ll need to enter the promo code C1SUMMER by Monday 31 August to generate the voucher. Once its in your loyalty app, you’ll have 14 days to use the voucher.

The deal includes any barista-made drink (normally £3.50 to £5). It’s valid on both dine-in and takeaway, with no minimum spend required. Bottled drinks are excluded.

Coffee#1 has 132 locations (mostly Southern England, Wales, and the Midlands – find your nearest).

When you buy £1.81 hot drink

If you're visiting pub chain Wetherspoon (find your nearest), you can get unlimited free refills on hot drinks including tea and coffee.

There's no code or voucher needed. The free refills will be available across the following self-serve hot drinks:

• flat white

• cappuccino

• latte

• white coffee

• black coffee

• espresso

• Twinings tea

You'll just need to buy one hot drink to begin with (in most pubs these cost £1.81, though prices differ depending on location) at the bar, then you can refill as many times as you like.

In some High Street pubs, hot drinks are £1.49, but at airports, such as Birmingham, they're £3.60 – either way, if you're getting refills, we still think this is a decent offer.

This offer runs all day from pub opening time until closing, every day of the week. Take-away cups are also available for any hot drink, so you can take a refill to go with you as well.

When you buy £1.95 self-serve hot drink

If you're visiting any Morrisons Café (find your nearest*), you can get unlimited free refills on hot drinks including lattes, cappuccinos and fruit teas.

There's no code or voucher needed – Morrisons says the free refills will be available across self-serve hot drinks such as lattes, cappuccinos and fruit teas. Hot chocolate and mocha drinks are excluded from this deal. You'll just need to buy one hot drink to begin with (from £1.95) at the till, then you can refill as many times as you like.

This offer runs all day from café opening time until closing, every day of the week and includes alternative milks. There's currently no end date to the offer, and Morrisons told us it's still ongoing. This is dine-in offer only.

When you sign up to the Greggs app

If you download and sign up to the Greggs app (iOS/Google Play), you can get a totally free hot or iced drink – you don't need to buy anything, this is a total freebie.

The free hot or iced drink will appear automatically in the 'Wallet' section of the app once signed in, and you'll have 31 days to redeem it in-store.

Weekdays only with an Ikea Family card

When you shop in store at Ikea (find your nearest), you can get a free cup of tea or filter coffee (normally £1.50) when you swipe an Ikea Family card at the in-store restaurant. Ikea Family is its free loyalty scheme, and you can sign up online or in store.

You can get the free hot drink Monday to Friday at all stores except Brighton, Hammersmith, Oxford Street, Aberdeen Order and Collection Point, Plan and Order Points. Ikea says that one hot drink can be redeemed per Ikea Family card.
