9 January 2026

It’s January, and it’s rather dreary, which can only mean one thing... it's time to plan my summer holiday abroad. Like many of us, I'll often find myself daydreaming about lying on a sun lounger on a sandy beach while soaking up the summer sun or wandering through cobblestone streets in a European city. But one thing that I've not left up to my overactive imagination is my ability to grab a holiday bargain with my stash of supermarket loyalty points.

January is one of the busiest months for Brits to book their summer hols. It also happens to be when a host of operators, including British Airways, Easyjet, Jet2 and TUI, run sales.

Despite being one of the busiest booking periods for holidays, January isn’t always the cheapest month to book, which is something to bear in mind. Unfortunately, travel experts remain divided on when is the best time to book – some argue to wait until the last minute, while others suggest specific months.

Given the ongoing debate, would-be holidaymakers should make the most of tools such as Skyscanner and Google Flights to monitor prices, especially if you have your heart set on a particular destination. Flights and holidays are dynamically priced based on availability, which means discounts on fares and packages can fluctuate, so these tools can be very handy.

While shopping around is important, sometimes, just sometimes, being brand-loyal can pay off, especially if you’re converting loyalty points into a holiday… just like I did last March.

Got Tesco Clubcard points? Get 2x the value towards an Easyjet holiday

At the end of 2024 – and much to my delight – Tesco Clubcard and Easyjet holidays went into partnership*. This means Tesco Clubcard vouchers can now be converted into money off a package holiday with Easyjet.

At the beginning of last year, I had £87-worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers. If I used this amount in-store, it would hold the same value. However, when you exchange Clubcard vouchers to spend with Clubcard Rewards Partners, such as Easyjet, they double in value. This meant my vouchers gave me £174 in credit with Easyjet holidays – not too shabby.

Before you rush to convert your credit, there are some stipulations:

  • You can’t use your Easyjet credit on just flights alone, you’ll need to book a package holiday with the operator, so flights and a hotel.

  • The email address for both your Tesco Clubcard and Easyjet accounts must match.

  • Once you’ve exchanged your vouchers for credit with Easyjet holidays, they can’t be refunded back, so only convert what you need.

  • Only convert when you’re ready to book, and know how much you want/need, because the credit is only valid for six months (my credit took a couple of days to come through, so do give yourself some leeway).

  • Easyjet holidays credit cannot be used towards a booking of eight people or more.

  • You can only exchange a maximum of £300 in Clubcard vouchers, which is the equivalent of £600 in Easyjet holidays credit, within a 12-month period.

How to exchange your Clubcard vouchers & get your Easyjet credit

It's a rather seamless process to get your holiday credit. Here's how:

  • When you're ready to convert your vouchers into holiday credit, you'll need to select the amount you'd like to exchange* via your Tesco Clubcard account.

  • You'll receive an email confirmation from Tesco of your order, followed by a second email from Easyjet holidays once your order has been validated.

  • Once validated, the points should appear in your Easyjet holidays account.

If Easyjet cancels your booking, and a refund is due, you will receive a refund of any payments back to the original method of payment. This means if you book using holiday credit, the refund will be issued in credit.

I paid £46 for a £320 trip

Last year, I combined my £174 in Easyjet credit with my Vinted earnings (£100), giving me £274 to play with for a city break to Athens.

My break would have cost £320, but I only ended up paying £46 in cold hard cash thanks to my Tesco Clubcard vouchers and Vinted earnings (see our Vinted buying & selling guide if you're interested in how it works).

Admittedly, I could have paid less, but I plumped for good flight times and a hotel in the heart of the city centre. However, I did keep costs down by only travelling with an underseat bag (it’s doable for a three-night trip). I also didn’t fork out for other ‘additional’ costs too, such as a seat reservation and a private airport transfer.

When I looked for package holidays to Athens on Friday 9 January for March 2026 (the same month I went last year), I found similar holidays starting from £320 per person.

If you’re not picky about the destination, and can be flexible with departure dates, you can find breaks to other parts of Europe for less. For example, three nights in Paris starts from £169 per person, while seven nights in Majorca is from £261 per person.

What happens to your credit if the holiday is cancelled?

If you cancel your holiday after the six-month window on your Easyjet holiday credit, you will not get the credit back. However, if you cancel your holiday within the six-month window of converting the credits, and a refund is due, the credit will be applied back to your Easyjet account.

Always purchase travel insurance as soon as you book your trip, because if something happens and stops you from going, you’ll have some protection. See our travel insurance guide for all the know-how.

You will need to check whether your travel insurance covers the loss of your credit (or Clubcard voucher value) in the event you have to cancel your holiday, as not all policies will cover this as standard.

Which other travel operators can you convert Clubcard vouchers with?

You can also convert your Tesco Clubcard vouchers into credit with other travel companies*, including Eurocamp, Hotels.com, Intrepid Travel, P&O Cruises, Butlin's Big Weekenders, Cunard and more.

I’m back to accruing points on my Tesco Clubcard in the hope that I can get money off a winter sun break this December – wish me luck!
