Lewes, famous for its big bonfire, is also home to a Norman castle (complete with cannon) built after the Battle of Hastings by supporters of William the Conqueror. Bear in mind, there are a number of stairs to climb here.

Gressenhall's collections and interactive displays show what life was like in the Victorian workhouse, which opened in 1777.

A chance to check out how the BFI's collection of film archives are preserved. A BFI curator will give a behind-the-scenes look at classic movies such as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Star Wars.

This one's a fusion or eras. You'll have a chance to check out the 1930s Art Deco mansion and 15th-century medieval great hall – the latter's where Henry VIII used to hang out as a child. You can finish off with a nice stroll around the grounds.

Perched atop a massive motte, Norwich Castle offers panoramic views across the city. The museum explores the everyday lives of those living in medieval Norwich, and the galleries house collections of Anglo-Saxon objects, including the mysterious Spong Man.
