Free £5 at Costa when buying a £20 gift card
Online purchase of gift cards only
We're not usually fans of giving gift cards as gifts at MSE because people often forget to use them before they expire, and if a firm goes bust, they're usually rendered useless. However, as this is a big chain, this could make a decent gift for Christmas if you know someone who regularly drinks at Costa.
If you spend £20-£39 on a Costa gift card or eGift online you'll get an extra £5 free until 11.59pm on Monday 1 December. A £40-£59 gift card will get you an extra £10 free and a £60 or more spend will get you an additional £15. You'll need to purchase brand-new gift cards online to be eligible, as this won’t work if you top up an existing card.
Costa told us the extra £5-£15 will automatically be added to your gift card or eGift when you purchase from the gifting part of the Costa website only.
If you choose to send the card via post rather than email, select delivery 'As soon as it is ready'. Costa says you won't receive the bonus if the card is delivered on a future date outside the promotional dates (so in this case, after Monday 1 December). Delivery is £3 and should be dispatched within two working days.
Although you can't use Costa Club Beans for the purchase of a gift card or eGift, you can claim them when redeeming coffee on the gift card or eGift.
Costa says Northern Ireland is excluded from both the promotion and from the redemption of Costa Coffee gift cards, however, those who live in Northern Ireland can purchase a gift card for it to be sent to mainland UK for redemption.
This offer is limited to a maximum of five Costa gift cards per person (whether purchased together or separately over the offer period). See the full terms and conditions.

Ovo told us the £4 eGift card doesn't have to be spent on coffee, but can be redeemed against food too.
How to claim
-
Log into your Ovo Energy app and find the free Costa Coffee drink voucher through the offer tab (while the offer is referred to as a free drink, it's issued as a £4 voucher)

You will then receive a unique eGift card to spend in store - present this when ordering your drink or food at the till.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
