Gary Caffell

Deputy Editor

Gary has over 20 years of experience in journalism, specialising in personal finance for the majority of that time. He has spent nine years at MoneySavingExpert.com, covering a wide range of topics, including energy, banking, savings, credit cards and shopping.

After a brief hiatus to launch a new personal finance website for Future Publishing, Gary has returned to MSE as Deputy Editor. He now oversees all the on-site content and has previously led teams across various verticals, including energy and utilities, money, deals & shopping, and social media.

As a personal finance expert, Gary regularly appears on TV and radio, with features on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, LBC, TalkRadio, ITV News, BBC News, BBC Scotland's The Nine show, BBC local radio and more.

He also regularly gives quoters for a range of national newspapers and magazines and speaks at industry conferences. During the peak of the energy crisis, Gary led a working group of energy suppliers and consumer groups, holding companies to account and ensuring customers were treated fairly and supported as much as possible.

Outside of work he likes to put his MoneySaving skills to the test, whether haggling with his TV provider, or hunting for a great deal on his next holiday.

He also has his hands full with two young children and when he is not enjoying family time, you can likely find him at the Emirates Stadium, where he has a season ticket to watch the Arsenal – his other great passion.
