Vodafone customers mugged on holiday have been pursued for more than a year by the mobile operator after thieves ran up £1,000s in premium-rate call charges on their stolen phones.

Vodafone remains the most complained-about mobile firm by a clear distance, according to the latest stats from the telecoms regulator Ofcom which cover January to March of this year. It comes as MoneySavingExpert.com continues to warn all Vodafone customers to check their bills ASAP.

All Vodafone customers are urged to check their bills for errors after a MoneySavingExpert.com investigation uncovered huge numbers of problems with billing, incorrect tariffs, customer service and other issues – including some reporting that their credit score has been wrongly hit – following the mobile giant's move to a new billing platform last year.

Mobile phone users should now be able to dodge irritating cold calls for free by texting the second opt-out number the Telephone Preference Service has launched in a week, after it emerged some were being charged to text the first number. While some users may receive a warning message stating the new number isn't free, the TPS assures us that no charge will be made.
