Netflix is raising prices across all of its plans by up to £24 a year for both new and existing subscribers. The increases came into effect for newbies on Thursday 6 February, while existing members will be given 30 days' notice by email.

If you've got Sky TV, Sky can put your price up during your two-year contract without telling you what rises to expect before you sign up AND without letting you leave penalty-free. Thought this kind of thing was supposed to be banned? So did we. But our investigation can now reveal that Sky is exploiting a surprising gap in the new rules – leaving its TV customers in the lurch.

Disney+ is raising the prices on its ad-free 'Standard' and 'Premium' plans by up to £24 a year. The increases will take effect from Thursday 17 October – but you may be able to beat the hikes if you act before 11.59pm on Wednesday 16 October.

If you share your Disney+ account with friends or family who don't live with you, you'll now need to pay up to £4.99 a month extra to do so, as the streaming service has clamped down on password sharing.

If you're a Netflix subscriber on its 'Basic' plan, you'll have to pay £3 more a month (£36 a year) to watch without adverts at the lowest price. The streaming giant dropped the plan for new users last year, but it's now being scrapped for existing subscribers too. 

Amazon Prime Video will start showing adverts from 5 February 2024 unless you pay an extra £2.99 a month, the online giant has announced.

The annual cost of a standard colour TV licence will rise to £169.50 from 1 April 2024 – an increase of £10.50 on the current price of £159 a year – the Department for Culture, Media and Sport has announced. It's the first increase to the fee since April 2021.
