Energy minnow First Utility has today pledged to freeze gas and electricity prices at their current levels until the end of winter, ahead of rumours the big six energy providers may up prices soon.
Gas and electricity prices will be frozen for 20 months after the 2015 general election if Labour wins power, leader Ed Miliband has told his party's annual conference in Brighton.
Energy bills will continue to soar, warns a top British Gas executive, in a wide-ranging interview with MoneySavingExpert.com. But he also urges households to cut their consumption as the way to cut their bills.
British Gas owner Centrica says profits from its residential energy arm rose by 3.2% to £356 million during the first half of the year following a freezing winter — but it isn't ruling out future price rises.
Household energy bills will be £240 higher each year by 2020 largely due to the mounting cost of Government green policies, energy giant Npower claims.
