Consumers who try to wriggle out of their credit card debts based on a technicality have been dealt a blow after one loophole was closed by the High Court, it is claimed.
A loophole in loan agreements which would have allowed a Cheshire couple to write off their £40,000 debt has been closed by judges at the Court of Appeal.
The number of people declared insolvent in England and Wales hit a new record high during the third quarter of the year, official figures showed today.
