Energy giants British Gas and Npower have been wrongly telling customers coming to the end of their fixed-term contracts they'll have to pay exit fees if they switch to a different provider, MoneySavingExpert.com can reveal. British Gas, E.on, SSE and some smaller suppliers have announced energy price freezes till the end of winter. Yet if you're one of the 66% on one of their standard tariffs they're typically freezing you at £200/yr MORE than the cheapest.
