If you're an unpaid carer, you'll soon be able to earn £45 more a week without losing your entitlement to Carer's Allowance. The move has been announced by the Chancellor Rachel Reeves in today's Autumn Budget. From 7 April 2025, the earnings limit for carers will rise from £151 to £196 – but earn a penny over this and you'll still see the entire benefit clawed back.

If you've got an HSBC Visa credit card, you may be able to earn up to £100 cashback on groceries, fuel and transport over the next two months – but you've only got until 11.59pm on Thursday 31 October to check if you're eligible and opt in. It's a no brainer if you were planning to make these purchases anyway – as long as you pay your card off IN FULL, so the interest doesn't wipe out your cashback earnings.

Misleading 'Complete Savings' ads have been banned following a complaint by MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE). The 'cashback with a catch' site often pops up when you check out online at Argos, Papa Johns and Trainline. MSE founder Martin Lewis has urged shoppers to check their statements NOW to make sure they're not unknowingly shelling out each month.

Premium Bond holders will see NS&I's prize-fund rate fall to 4.15% from 4.4% for its December 2024 draw and beyond. But if you're a bondholder, you may want to consider moving your cash to an interest-paying account now as the interest rate is already lagging behind rates on standard savings accounts.
