Supermarkets to cut petrol prices

They say a fall in global oil prices have enabled them to pass their savings on to motorists.

But the cuts won't necessarily make these retailers the cheapest places to fill up your car. The Petrolprices.com website lists the cheapest fuel in your area.

Drivers filling up at any of Asda's 195 forecourts nationwide will now pay no more than 129.7p per litre for unleaded and 134.7p per litre for diesel.

Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco prices vary locally.

The moves will be of some relief to motorists faced with high driving costs, though prices remain steep.

The average price of unleaded is currently 134.3p per litre and diesel is 139.8p per litre, according to Petrolprices.com.
