If you're new to tailored dog food company Tails.com* you can get 90% off your first box, and 35% off your second, when you enter the MSE Blagged code EXPERT90 at the checkout by 11.59pm on Tuesday 21 January.

The code works on meals for one dog, including dry food, wet food and treats. As it's 'tailored' food, the price and portion size of the box will be different for each dog – see how it worked for us. Each box of dog food will last for one month and your first box includes a portion scoop.

Important: You'll be enrolled into a cancellable monthly subscription. After the first two months, boxes will be charged at full-price unless you pause or cancel. You can do this any time (including within the first month) from your Tails.com account if you don't want to continue with it, and you won't be charged for further deliveries. If you decide to get the second box, the discount for it will be automatically applied when the next payment is taken.

How Tails.com works

Give it some basic info about your pooch, including age, breed and any medical or dietary requirements they have. You can then choose if you'd like wet or dry food, if your dog has any preferred flavours and if you'd like any treats included. The cost per month depends on the particular recipe for your dog – see more on Tails.com pricing.

We tested it with one of our MSE dogs and Tails.com gave us 3.5kg of tailored dry food for £2.02 (normally £20.15) and 16 150g wet food portions for £1.20 (normally £11.20) – a total of £3.22 for the first box using our code (normally £31.35). At supermarkets, we found 2-3kg bags of dry dog food from well-known brands for about £8 and 16 lots of 150g wet food packs for about £10, so roughly £18 in total, though obviously recipes and nutritional value differ.

How does Tails.com work?

Your dog's unique recipe is then created and you can see a detailed breakdown of what's included and the different nutritional benefits. You can go back and edit the information about your dog before you buy anything.
