Via WeDonate membership (sign up's free)

If you're a member of WeDonate (a free platform offering rewards and discounts for donating blood), you can claim a free one-day pass once a week at PureGym (find your nearest). The offer's valid until Wednesday 31 December.

Who's eligible? WeDonate says you can get this if you've donated blood, plasma or platelets in the past 10 years – it's not just limited to recent/active donors.

You can sign up to WeDonate for free by using an image of your NHS Blood and Transplant card, donor ID number or other national UK blood donor card. Once you've joined, you'll get access to all deals available at WeDonate.

How to get it: Find the PureGym free one-day pass within the WeDonate app and it will produce a unique code. You'll then need to copy this, then head over to the PureGym website and select your gym. Then click the day pass option, then one-day pass, and once this has been selected you can enter your unique code into the given promo box.

However, you will need to generate a new each code each week via the above method. You can't use the same code for each visit.

How good is this deal? The cost of a one-day pass varies depending location, but they're usually around £7.99- £15.99. If you're unsure about committing to a membership, a free day pass is a great way to trial if the gym's for you, especially as you can get one free session per week until Wednesday 31 December.

Until 11.59pm on Monday 25 August, students can claim a free seven-day PureGym pass via Unidays. The start date can be delayed by up to seven days, but cannot be transferred to another person.

If you're looking for longer term membership, you can also get up to 30% off your first six months at PureGym.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
