Lego 'free' gifts with purchase

And discounts on selected sets for Lego Insiders (members)

Lego has various offers on for Black Friday including discounts on selected sets online and in stores until Monday 1 December. In some cases, you need to be a Lego Insider (it's free to sign up) to get discounts.

While it hasn't flagged the sale as a certain percentage off, we found most items to be discounted by roughly 29%.

  • Minimum discount we spotted: 10%

  • Maximum discount we spotted: 50%

  • Typical discount based on 10 random items: 29%

Here's what we spotted on Friday 28 November:

Don't assume Lego will have the cheapest price – Amazon, Asda, Smyths and The Entertainer (to name a few), all have sales on for Black Friday that include Lego sets, so if there's something you're after always price-check first.

It's also offering 'free' gifts when you either purchase selected lines or spend a certain amount. These are listed in full detail below, but you'll need to spend a minimum of £60.

Free gifts with selected purchases include:

  • 'Free' Lego Card Game set with purchase (normally £8.99) valid on Friday 28 November only, while stocks last. Minimum spend £60 across Lego Creator 3in1, Lego Speed Champions, Lego Fortnite, LEGO Friends and DUPLO merchandise only.

  • 'Free' Lego Hot Chocolate Stand set (normally £21.99) with purchase - valid on Friday 28 November until Monday 1 December, while stocks last. Minimum spend £155 on Lego merchandise only.

  • 'Free' Lego Mini Knight’s Castle set (normally £25.99) with purchase - valid on Friday 28 November until Monday 1 December, while stocks last. Minimum spend £225 on Lego merchandise only.

  • 'Free' Lego Icons Star Trek: Type-15 Shuttlepod (normally £21.99) with purchase - valid on Friday 28 November until Monday 1 December, while stocks last. Qualifying purchase must include Lego Icons Star Trek: U.S.S. Enterprise (this has an RRP of £349.99).

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible.

FREE Lego Harry Potter polybag at Smyths

Limited availability at all stores – go early

Put your wallet away and get your wand out instead… as if you pop in to any Smyths toy store (find your nearest) from 9am on Saturday 30 August, you can claim a free Lego mini Harry Potter polybag, while stock lasts.

Say Expelliarmus to any costs, as you don't need to spend anything – this is a total freebie, but only a limited number are available on a first come, first served basis. We reckon this will be popular, so it's best to get there earlier in the day.

Smyths says this is intended for children aged six and over. You won't be able to buy the Lego polybag as it's exclusive to the event, but we spotted similar from different stores for £3 to £5.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
