1-12 December

Get '12 Treats of Christmas' offers via My John Lewis app

If you have the free 'My John Lewis' app* (available on Apple and Android) you can get daily offers and even some freebies as part of its '12 Treats of Christmas' every day in December until Friday 12 December.

The promotion is open to new and existing members, but if you join after 1 December, you'll only be able to claim offers from the day you join onwards, not retrospectively.

A new deal will launch each day when you go into the app and tap to open its digital advent calendar door. While we can't promise you'll receive a partridge in a pear tree, this is a bit of festive fun and in some cases, you can get total freebies so it's worth a look if you like John Lewis products.

Sadly, it's halved the length of its advent calendar compared to last year when it was 24 days. You'll need to be quick to claim the offers – the competitions are usually only open to enter for one day, while you only get up to about three days to claim a freebie.

Here are some of the offers we've seen so far this year:

  • Competition entry to win a De'Longhi coffee machine, plus £1,000 John Lewis gift card

  • FREE Chocolate Father Christmas (45g, £5.50). Claim in an. Remember, this pick-up reward won't be around forever, so pop in store today, while stocks last.

Validity periods will vary and can be found on each offer. If you opt in for push notifications, you’ll be sent daily reminders to open the doors, but you have to open the door in order to get the offer each day.

See our Christmas Deals Predictor for more festive deals.

Incl Click & Collect, haggling & sales discounts

There are always ways you can save money at John Lewis*, so even if there isn't a cracking deal out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.

Ways to save money at John Lewis include:

  • £2 Click & Collect. Save on delivery if you're spending less than £50 by collecting your items from a store (find your nearest*). Orders of £70+ get free delivery, and £40+ orders get free Click & Collect.

  • Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to see in which shops they had most success haggling, and John Lewis shoppers had a success rate of 72% - so it's definitely worth a try if you're feeling brave. Read our Haggle on the High Street guide for more haggling tips.

  • Shop in the sale. John Lewis has a few sales throughout the year which usually range from 'up to 20% off' to 'up to 70% off'.

  • Check other retailers against its 'Never Knowingly Undersold' price promise. In September this year, John Lewis bought back its 'Never Knowingly Undersold' price match policy which it had previously axed in August 2022. If you've purchased an item but find it for a lower price at one of its listed retailers within seven days of buying, it’ll refund the difference.

  • Check similar retailers, eg, Selfridges. If you're not committed to buying from John Lewis, check for deals from other department stores such as Selfridges, where you may find there's a better offer.

  • Had a problem with John Lewis? There’s a free online tool you can use to complain – it helps draft, manage and if necessary escalate your complaint. It’s offered by a firm called Resolver, which we like so much we work with it to help people get complaints justice – you can use it to complain to John Lewis*.

John Lewis deals on 100s of electricals, beauty, home & more*

Lots of price-matching. More offers likely still to come

If you go in store or online to John Lewis*, you can get discounts on hundreds of items across its electricals, beauty & fragrance, fashion, and home departments in its Black Friday sale, until Monday 1 December.

There isn't a blanket discount across everything – instead, different departments have varying offers. Unfortunately, John Lewis has weakened some of its offering on Black Friday itself. What was 'up too £300 off Samsung and LG TVs', is now 'up to £200 plus 10% off'. The majority of items included in this deal are under £1000, meaning this is a worse deal.

From what we've seen so far, many items are price-matched elsewhere by other retailers. We've noticed that deals can be removed from the sale suddenly, so it's worth bearing that in mind if you're waiting to make a purchase.

Delivery's £4.50, or free if you're spending £70 or more.

Extended returns and price-match policy

John Lewis says any item bought from now until Wednesday 24 December can be returned until Friday 23 January 2026.

Last year, John Lewis brought back its 'Never Knowingly Undersold' price-match policy, which it previously axed in August 2022. If you've purchased an item but find it for a lower price at one of its 25 listed retailers (see 'More info') within seven days of buying, it’ll refund the difference. There are some caveats and terms for this, so make sure you read the full price promise details.

Something to consider – if the price is the same as other retailers, John Lewis often includes an extended warranty for 'free', such as a five-year guarantee on TVs and two-year guarantee on electricals. This is compared to the standard one-year warranty offered by most other retailers.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Free protection for all shopping!

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
