Teachers and school staff can get 5% off online at Ikea via the Discounts for Teachers app (free to sign up). Discounts for Teachers says the offer will work on any product.
To get the deal, log in to the Discounts for Teachers app, then visit this Ikea page within the app and select 'Get Deal'.
Earn points when you spend to redeem against future purchases & restaurant items
Those signed up to the Ikea Family loyalty scheme (it's free to join) have received benefits for several years including free tea and coffee, and discounts on selected products – and now, Ikea has revamped its scheme to also give points when you shop or do certain 'interactions', which you can then convert into money off in-store/online or at its restaurants. We've full info on the points scheme below, and our analysis on whether it's any good.
There are six ways you can earn points. You'll earn points for doing the following:
-
1 point – For every £5 spent (swipe your Ikea Family card at the checkout, or add it to your online account)
-
1 point – Logging in to your Ikea Family profile (via the website or app)
-
2 points – Creating and saving a wish list online
-
5 points – Creating an Ikea Family profile online
-
20 points – Registering for, and attending, a free Ikea Family workshop or event in stores
-
25 points – Booking and attending a planning appointment (excludes kitchen planning)
There's no limit to how many points you can earn when spending in-store or online, but for activities such as logging into to your account, the points will only be credited once per week per activity. For example, even if you log in to your account multiple times within a week, you'll still only earn one point. The same applies for creating wish lists, and attending Ikea workshops, events and planning appointments.
Points will be valid for 18 months. Ikea says collected points can take up to 48 hours to arrive in your account, and points are only valid for 18 months from the date of collection (so the date of the purchase or interaction). After that, the points will automatically expire, and you won't be able to use them to claim rewards. That brings us nicely to...
What are the rewards?
You can redeem your points in three different ways – either on purchases over £11, on selected food orders at Ikea's restaurant, or on delivery of large items. Here are what points get you:
Discounts on purchases
-
125 points – save £10 when you spend £11 or more
-
250 points – save £20 when you spend £21 or more
-
500 points – save £40 when you spend £41 or more
Ikea restaurant discounts
-
22 points – get a Daim cake for 10p
-
33 points – get a salmon meal for 50p
-
45 points – get one meal of eight-piece meat, veg or plant balls for 50p
-
68 points – get a nine-piece breakfast for 50p
-
94 points – get two meals of eight-piece meat, veg or plant balls for 50p
Home delivery discounts
-
50 points – £5 off delivery
-
100 points – £10 off delivery
-
150 points – £15 off delivery
-
200 points – £20 off delivery
It only applies to large deliveries (such as beds, wardrobes or appliances) and it can't be used against express delivery.
How good is Ikea's new rewards scheme?
Sadly, we're not that impressed as it doesn't seem like a particularly generous scheme. For example, you'd have to spend £110 just to get a 10p Daim cake (normally about £2), and £625 to get £10 off an in-store or online spend.
If you shop at Ikea reguarly, or if you've got a big purchase planned, then owt's better than nowt and it could be worth it – though don't use it as an excuse to overspend. For many, rewards aren't likely to come that quickly, which could be an issue when points are only valid for 18 months.
You can stack these rewards with some other offers. Ikea told us the reward vouchers can be used alongside other offers and promotions such as Ikea Family prices, except where the other offer contains a coupon code or QR code. This is because it's not possible to apply two codes to a single purchase. Only one reward voucher can be redeemed at a time.

Weekdays only with an Ikea Family card
When you shop in store at Ikea (find your nearest), you can get a free cup of tea or filter coffee (normally £1.50) when you swipe an Ikea Family card at the in-store restaurant. Ikea Family is its free loyalty scheme, and you can sign up online or in store.
You can get the free hot drink Monday to Friday at all stores except Brighton, Hammersmith, Oxford Street, Aberdeen Order and Collection Point, Plan and Order Points. Ikea says that one hot drink can be redeemed per IKEA family card.

Ikea Black Friday deals
For Family Members only, online and in stores
Ikea started its Black Friday sale for Ikea Family Members (it's free to sign up) online and in stores on Monday 24 November with discounts across selected homeware and furniture lasting until Monday 1 December.
This is the first time Ikea has had a Black Friday sale since 2021 and there's currently over 400 items included online (though what's available may differ in stores). It says there are discounts 'up to 90% off', and while we did find some heavily discounted items, the majority of items are around 23% off.
Min discount we spotted: 10%
Max discount we spotted: 90%
Typical discount based on 10 random items: 23%
How good is this sale? Ikea has done better deals throughout the year. It had 'up to 60% off' in September and also June this year with more items included. It also usually has a 'winter sale' with around 50%-60% off mid December, so might be worth waiting to see if that happens.
Here are some examples it told us about:
-
PORTLAKMÅLLA bed linen – £3 (was £30)
-
VITTSJÖ Laptop Table – £5 (was £35)
-
TROFAST frame – £10 (was £55)
-
NACKANÄS Dining Table – £29 (was £129)
If you're ordering online, or you're ordering items too large for you to transport home yourself, delivery ranges from £5 to £45, depending on the size of your items (minimum spend for delivery is £15). Small parcel delivery is free if you're spending £60 or more.
Important: Don't allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

Is Ikea likely to boost the sale discount? We don't usually see Ikea increase discounts during a sale period, so we don't expect it to this time.

And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
