On a £5.50+ spend for your birthday via free VIP club

If you download the Hotel Chocolat app you can register for its VIP club to get a 'surprise gift' – usually a £5 voucher (with a minimum £5.50 spend) – for your birthday. You can either redeem in a store, or online where delivery's from £3.95.

It's valid for the month of your birthday, unless you sign up during that month, then it will be valid from the next month. See full T&Cs.

What else does the loyalty app get me?

When you sign up, you'll get a code for 15% off online or in-store. You can also show your card or app in-store to get 20% off drinks, ice lollies, or ice creams.

Hotel Chocolat 15% off when you spend £35+

Plus how to save £30 on the new Velvetiser – makes it £120

If you shop online or in-store (find your nearest) at chocolatier Hotel Chocolat, you can get 15% off when you spend £35 or more for its Black Friday sale until Monday 1 December. The discount is automatically applied at checkout, and only excludes the Velvetiser – though there is still a way to get a discount.

If you sign up to Hotel Chocolat’s free VIP club, you’ll save £30 on the new Velvetiser, bringing the cost down to £119.95. This is marginally the cheapest price, elsewhere it's on offer for £120 at John Lewis and Amazon – so if you don't want to sign up to Hotel Chocolat's VIP club, you could also save by shopping elsewhere.

When we checked on Thursday 20 November, there were 250 products included in the sale. Delivery is free when you spend £60 or more, and collection in-store is 95p, or free when you spend £20 or more.

Important: Don’t allow yourself to be taken in by the hype around Black Friday and be sucked into buying something you don’t need or can’t afford. Always do your own price comparisons to ensure you are getting the best deal possible – don’t just take a retailer’s word for it.

MSE Samuel says:

It’s a shame Hotel Chocolat hasn’t included the popular 2025 Velvetiser in its Black Friday sale, as I’ve been on the hunt for it ever since it came out! However, if you're after one too, the £30 discount mentioned above is the best price I've seen it.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100. Known as Chargeback, this is part of banks' and card companies' internal rules and not a legal requirement. Read full details of Section 75 or Chargeback, plus how to claim, in our guides.
What the * means above
If a link has an * by it, that means it is an affiliated link and therefore it helps MoneySavingExpert stay free to use, as it is tracked to us. If you go through it, it can sometimes result in a payment or benefit to the site. It's worth noting this means the third party used may be named on any credit agreements.
You shouldn’t notice any difference and the link will never negatively impact the product. Plus the editorial line (the things we write) is NEVER impacted by these links. We aim to look at all available products. If it isn't possible to get an affiliate link for the top deal, it is still included in exactly the same way, just with a non-paying link.
