There are always ways to save money at Habitat*, so even if there isn't a cracking deal out there that works for you, don't assume you can't cut your costs further.

Ways to save include:

Shop in the sale. A few times a year, the Habitat sale offers discounts of up to 50% off. Plus, there are smaller sales throughout the year, as well as occasional 'flash' sales that only last a couple of days. Keep your eyes peeled for updates in MSE's weekly email newsletter.
Try haggling. We polled 1,400 MoneySavers to find out in which shops hagglers have most success. Lots of high street retailers are known to give discounts to customers who ask, so it's always worth a punt. For more haggling tips, see our Haggle on the High Street guide.
Check other retailers. If you're not committed to buying from Habitat, check other stores such as Ikea, Homebase, Argos and John Lewis, where you may find there's a better deal.

There's a little-known piece of legislation that turns any credit card into a financial self-defence superhero. 'Section 75' of the Consumer Credit Act means your plastic must protect anything you buy for more than £100 for free, so if there's a problem or the company goes bust, you can still get your money back.
And although Section 75 doesn't apply to debit cards, there is something else to fall back on if you've paid using a debit card, or used a credit card for a purchase under £100.
