Are you in charge of this year's Christmas dinner? If so, keep calm and carrot on... the 2025 Christmas veg price war is kicking off.

So far, five supermarkets – Morrisons, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, and Sainsbury's – have confirmed they're slashing prices this week, with Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi as low as 5p a packet. If past years are to go by, once a few supermarkets drop prices, the others will follow suit.

5p is the cheapest we've seen veg pre-Christmas since we started tracking them in 2015.

You don't need to keep your eyes peeled for when the cheap veg will be available, as we've listed when you can bag them below, so get ready to par-snip the price of your festive shop.

Morrisons* – 5p each in stores now until Christmas Day via More Card (free to join*). Limited to eight per customer

• Carrots (1kg) – were 69p, saving 93%

• Parsnips (500g) – were 74p, saving 93%

• Brussel sprouts (500g) – were £1, saving 95%

• Swede (each) – was 62p, saving 92%

Aldi – 5p each in stores only from Friday 19 December until Christmas Eve. Limited to four of each vegetable pack per customer

• Potatoes (2kg) – were £1.32, saving 96%

• Brussels sprouts (500g) – were 89p, saving 94%

• Carrots (1kg) – were 69p, saving 93%

• Parsnips (500g) – were 74p, saving 93%

• Red/white cabbage (each) – was 79p, saving 94%

• Swede (each) – was 50p, saving 90%

Lidl – 5p each in stores now until Christmas Eve. Limited to three of each vegetable pack per customer

• Brussels sprouts (500g) – were 89p, saving 94%

• Carrots (1kg) – were 69p, saving 93%

• Potatoes (2kg) – were £1.35, saving 96%

• Parsnips (500g) – were 74p, saving 93%

• Swede (each) – was 62p, saving 92%

• Shallots (300g) – were 99p, saving 95%

Sainsbury's – 15p each in stores & online now until Christmas Eve via Nectar (free to join)

• Carrots (1kg) – were 69p, saving 78%

• Brussels Sprouts (500g) – were £1, saving 85%

• Potatoes (2kg) – were £1.32, saving 89%

• Parsnips (500g) – were 74p, saving 80%

• Swede (each)  – was 62p, saving 76%

• Red Cabbage and White Cabbage – was 79p, saving 81%

Tesco – 15p each in stores & online now until Christmas Eve via Clubcard (free to join)

• Carrots (1kg) – were 69p, saving 78%

• Brussels sprouts (500g) – were 89p, saving 83%

• Potatoes (2kg) – were £1.32, saving 89%

• Parsnips (500g) – were 74p, saving 80%

• Swede (each) – was 62p, saving 76%

• Red cabbage (each) – was 79p, saving 81%

• Broccoli (each) – was 82p, saving 82%

Will there be enough stock of cheap Christmas veg? Given the time of year, we can't be certain what stock will be available at supermarkets. It could be worth checking local greengrocers as well.

Will they be reduced even further? It's possible prices could drop even more just before supermarkets close for Christmas if they need to clear stock. Previously, we've seen 1kg of carrots for free after Christmas Day.

Aldi is offering 25% off its Specially Selected wines and sparkling wines until Wednesday 24 December.
