I met a lady while filming in Ripon on Friday who told me: "Martin, thank you for helping me make my baby girl."
Having never seen her before, nor her 11-week-old daughter, and as it was on camera, I was somewhat taken aback and a little worried we might have been about to tread into an area I really didn’t want to know about.
Yet when she actually explained, I got an allergy (well, my eyes went wet anyway). She’d been unable to conceive for two years, and had been told by doctors it was unlikely she could have children.
Then she ventured from the MSE Forum Grabbit board to the Marriage, Relationships and Families board. There, she discussed the issue and was given lots of tips about things to try. And bingo, it worked – I know, I’ve met the gorgeous little result.
So I’m glad to have played my tiny part – though of course, in reality it’s the power of the MSE Forum which really helped. Who says community is dead?
