I’ve made a fashion faux-pas: the wrong shoes for parliament

I’ve a new purchasing mantra, "always look at the soles of shoes before buying them." I bought a new pair of shoes in the sales for £35 a couple of weeks ago and have just discovered something devilish about them.

During a meeting in MSE Towers, MSE Richard just said to me "wow interesting soles!". At first I looked at him strangely, then he pointed, so I lifted my leg and felt my heart sink. I’m off to parliament this afternoon for the AGM of the APPG on financial education and have no time to change them – and these just don’t feel too appropriate. I shall be keeping my feet flat on the ground.

I’ve used my camera phone to take snaps for you.

The shoes look normal from above…

Yet the devil’s in the soles.
