Mental health and Debt: are you willing to go public?

Perhaps one of the most difficult requests I’ve ever made of users. I’m looking for people who are willing to go public on not one but two, sadly taboo, subjects: mental health and debt.

As I informed you recently, in the New Year we hope to launch our new Mental Health and Debt guide (see the Mental Health guide, nearly there blog). As part of it we want to try and generate media coverage to spread the message that this is a subject that shouldn’t and can’t be ignored.

Yet to try and ignite interest in the wider media, we could do with people who have had to deal with both these issues or maybe are still dealing with them. I am aware this is a difficult thing to ask, and it’s the reason I’m doing it through my blog rather than just a normal forum request.

We are looking for people willing to share their problems and speak to the wider press about how they’ve been affected by these issues. We, of course, will help you, but it means both events will be public, so you should consider the possible implications of this. We would also contact you before passing on your details to a journalist and discuss with you what that would entail.

While it may seem daunting, it can also be an interesting and rewarding thing to do. We will do our best to make it as easy as possible for you, though if it’s something that you believe could risk causing you difficulties then please don’t do it.

If this is something you’re interested in, please email MHdebt@moneysavingexpert.com with a brief note about you and a contact phone number.
